Reviews - What do customers think about Greater Love (Tides Of Truth V3)?
 | Another great work by Whitlow! May 31, 2010 |
| The third book in the Tides of Truth series is a seamless continuation to the story of a young lady from the Georgia mountains who becomes a lawyer in Savannah. The story continues as Tami chooses which law firm in which to work. As Tami begins to settle in, the judge assigns her a case that rocks her whole world and everyone close to Tami. Whitlow does a masterful job of weaving believable characters and captivating story lines to keep you hooked to the last page! | | | | Greater Things to Come May 24, 2010 |
Coming to this trilogy's conclusion had me a little down. But that's because I'd picked up "Deeper Water," read a few pages and thought that this was going to really be stupid. Yet, as the pages continued to turn, I found myself asking my wife to order me "Higher Hope," which happens to be my favorite out of all three books. In "Greater Love," Whitlow not only keeps the reader's attention with a good conclusion, he offers a challenge. He writes about giving more of yourself. He speaks of love in simple terms. And sometimes, simple is all you need to get a hard point across.
Welcome back to a new and improved world of Tami! She has passed the bar exam, and she's accepted a position at a firm that has a three cord hold that just might prove pretty tough. And as far as men go, Zach and Vince both seek the affection of Tami, and Zach demands that she chooses one or the other. And to make matters a little more complicated, the judge gives Tami a client who's been through the ringer. It seems quite obvious that young Jessie is not telling the complete truth about everything, yet is terrified of something. And Tami goes through a whirlwind of emotions as everything seems to come into play. Yet with the prayers and advice of her parents, Tami chooses to press on!
While Whitlow didn't load this up with every page action packed, he did do a great job of putting it together. For a long time I've been just a little on the fence about him. Some people have written him off, and they won't read him anymore. But unlike them, I'm reading him because I like him! I'm just going to let you know that right away. He's earned a spot on my bookshelf for years to come. With "Greater Love," he actually took me back to a place I haven't been to in quite sometime. Just another reason to keep Whitlow around. That's because greater things are going to come from the pen of Robert Whitlow. I think he'll be better than Randy Singer before we all know it! Can't wait for his next release. | | | | Greater love-great book! May 23, 2010 |
| I was given this book to read by booksneeze, check out my blog [...] for a more extensive review of this book and others. I did not previously like this particular author, but he won me over with this series. I would highly recommend reading all 3 books in order (this is the last in a series of 3) so you don't miss anything. Robert Whitlow develops the characters and plot very well and almost methodical in the beginning, but he picks up speed quickly and keeps you interested the whole time! | | | | Nothing To Shout About May 12, 2010 |
For those who are expecting plenty of suspense and thriller, Greater Love is definitely not your kind of book. In fact, it is more of a spiritual novel and more than half of the chapters in this book focuses on Christian values. Now, even though I am not a person with a strong spiritual upbringing, I can look beyond that and appreciate the story. The plot was interesting enough that I didn't skim through the pages but honestly speaking, I couldn't relate with the fact that the main character, being a law graduate, having such a submissive nature. It seems that she was practically turning to her parents for advice each time she has issues with her love life. At times, it irked me so much that I have doubts that Tami was an adult. Neither was I impressed with her lifestyle choice as I find it unrealistic in this century. The ending was also predictable and not something you would expect out of a legal fiction.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this book as a legal fiction. However, you may enjoy Greater Love if you are a person having the same Christian faith paradigm as the author. My rating would be 2.5 out of 5.

Synopsis: "As the storm clouds gather, Tami does her best to weather the growing turbulence in every area of her life.
She's just accepted a job with a law firm but now wonders if she made the right decision. She has two strong men vying for her heart - and is about to lose them both if she can't determine which one is right for her.
And Tami's new case is anything but simple. When she first meets her prospective client, she immediately knows the rough young teen is lying, guilty ... and utterly terrified of something beyond the charges she's facing. What she doesn't realize is just how far reaching the effects of the case will go. Or how close to home the deadly results will hit. For by the time the storm breaks, someone close to Tami will have paid the ultimate price.
Through it all, Tami will experience greater sacrifice, greater friendship, and greater love than she's ever known."
My thoughts: I got this novel through [...] and it wasn't until I'd received and started reading it that I realized it was book three of a series. Can you imagine how lost that made me?
Nevertheless, I was genuinely touched by the trials young Tami faced and the courage in which she showed by pushing through. Her unwavering faith and strength were an inspiration.
It's like a breath of fresh air when you actually see others face trials and tribulations that you, yourself have gone through. You know you're not alone and confirmation that everyone makes mistakes seems to make the everyday load more bearable.
It's been a long time since I've read a spiritual novel, and I wasn't let down with Mr. Whitlow's wonderful writing. He combines the suspenseful with the spiritual and together they make an unforgettable story.
I enjoyed Greater Love so much, that I am now on the search for the two previous books in this series, Deep Water and Higher Hope.
