A WIDE VARIETY OF WORSHIP AND PRAISE MUSIC FOR ANY OCCASION Aug 31, 2009
My wife and I listened to this CD while traveling to a grandchild's birthday celebration. It is a set of songs that can take you anywhere. It might be used as a home worship experience, a part of a devotional time, just relaxing, background while at work, or softly keeping the Spirit alive during prayer time.
Raise Up the Crown is a delightful mix of songs written as recently as 2008 and a variation of a hymn from an original 1779 writing. All of the songs have been given a more contemporary flavor. It is surely intended as a worship and praise CD, at least it seems so to us. For those who attend a more conservative and formal worship service, this may be a delightful alternative. For those, like us who attend where worship includes a praise musical portion, this lively yet heartwarming set of songs, brings the worship experience home and available at any hour, any day.
Of course, the artists are a very good selection of some of the famous and inspiring Christian musicians and vocalists. It's a good way to visit some recording groups as a preview to ordering the CD that their particular selection was first released from.
It's hard to pick a favorite, but it was, it seems, quite appropriate to end this worship encounter in song with the fantastic message from Keith Green, and his presentation of "Easter Song." The CD is actually arranged with songs in an order relating to the weekend of Easter: Good Friday, the Crucifixion, through Easter, The Risen King. Powerful for Easter but inspiring at any time of the year.

This review is not from a music person, rather, it is from a worshipper of Jesus Christ. This CD will lift your thoughts and affections to the place where you can glorify and bless the LORD. This CD was a gift to me and I highly recommend it to other believers in Christ who can appreciate a contemporary approach to both old hymns and newer yet Biblical texts. This collection will bless you!
