Reviews - What do customers think about Hip Hope Hits 2008?
Hip Hope '08....not the best, not the worst Jul 14, 2008
Hip Hope Hits '08 is the next chapter in the fledging Gotee compilation series. It would be ranked third under Hip Hope '05 and '06. Highlights are Gotee's dynamic duo, Grits (featuring former labelmate and LA Symphony member, Pigeon John) on the club banger, "Open Bar", LA Symphony, the funny KJ-52's tune, "Do Yo Thang", the socially-conscious DJ Maj, teaming with The Katinas' John Katina (from Maj's compilation, Speckled Goats II) & Diverse City's GabeReal on "All My People", Manafest's "Bounce", new groups Group 1 Crew with the bouncy, "Let It Roll", Just.Live's unusually-titled, "Bolla Atcha Hoy (The New Slang)" and Tobymac's band, Diverse Citizens with "Party (All Citizens Out)". I believe that some of the other songs were somewhat okay, but it could've been better (for various reasons). Soul P's "Hear My Cry" should've been replaced with his radio hit, "Goodness" (featuring former Out of Eden member, Lisa Kimmey Winans). The other songs that shouldn't even be on this or any other Gotee rap compilation are Tobymac's "Boomin'" and Family Force 5's rock-based, "What You Gonna Do With It". What were they thinking when they decided to add these two songs on here? The songs that should be on here could've been one of Liquid's songs from his "Tales From The Badlands" release, T-Bone's "Let That Thang Go", Lecrae and Trip Lee's "Jesus Muzik" or Da' Truth with Pastor Donnie McClurkin and Tye Tribbett with "That Great Day". Come on, guys....really. I understand that they're trying to praise the Lord, but my prayer is that Gotee will do better the next go round.
Good Clean Hip Hop Sep 24, 2007
I teach dance classes and like to use the Hip Hope CD's because I know they will have clean lyrics. This one is pretty good, though some of the songs are a little heavy. I like the more dance-able hip hop. There are probably 4 songs like that on here. Overall the CD is good though.
