From the time of King David to beyond the second temple, olive oil lamps illuminated Jerusalem's darkened pathways after nightfall. Bourne on a small tray suspended by chains, a lamp would swing along with the footsteps of its bearer, casting just enough light for each next step.
The lampshining at the feet of one standing still, illuminates the path of one who by faith steps out into the darkness. So it is with Scripture, more illumination is shed on the path way with each step taken by faith into the unknown.

Unearthed in or near Jerusalem and authenticated by the Israel Department of Antiquities, these pottery lamps are genuine antiquites having been made in the Roman period 1st to 3rd century C.E (AD) or the Byzantine period 4th to 6th century C.E. (AD)
