Item description for Lost in the Middle: MidLife and the Grace of God by Paul David Tripp & ...
Overview The Bible never discusses midlife, just like it never discusses teenagers. Yet the Bible is able to unpack any of life's experiences because it was written by the One who made them all. Although this book is directed at those who are facing the issues of midlife, it has a much broader net than that. Lost in the Middle can help all who are confronted with life in this broken world and have lost their way. The God who seems so distant to you in this moment is actually near and active.

Reviews - What do customers think about Lost in the Middle: MidLife and the Grace of God?
 | Lost in middle review Feb 21, 2010 |
Excellent book to help all ages relate to age changes and attitude changes in life. Tripp is an excellent writer and gives biblical advice that is intriguing and very helpful for men and women goin through tough days. highly recommend this tool. Pastors will love it! | | | | Another Terrific Book by Paul David Tripp Dec 28, 2009 |
As with his other books, Paul Tripp takes this stage of life and applies the gospel of grace to it. This is a self-examination book, with enough examples from his years of ministry to help this reader see herself where the rubber meets the road in my life. However, it isn't a book of anecdotes, but a book of how to practically go to God for the grace to see ourselves, that we might be humbled enough to ask for the only thing that can change us: God's grace.
Mr. Tripp's premise is that in your early adult years, you often think you're sowing "A" by the choices you make for your future, but when you begin to reap "B" in the middle years, you can get bitter and resentful, at those around you and at God. Sort of like the characters on the movie "Secondhand Lions", who thought they had sown all sorts of vegetables, but as the plants began to mature, they realized that every row was actually planted in corn.
If you find yourself in the middle years (which Mr. Tripp defines as starting at 35) and are wondering why things are not working out in your life as you dreamed, I recommend this book. If you find yourself on the other side of these years, and you remain embroiled in questions about "how did I get HERE?", then I recommend this book. If you are just about to enter these years, and your life doesn't seem to be going in the diretion you expected, I recommend this book. Mr. Tripp is an engaging read, and his book will help you take these questions to The Throne for real light. | | | | Great book! Aug 22, 2009 |
| This was one of the best reads I have had in a long time. Even if you are not going through "mid-life crisis" this book has some really solid Biblical advice and strong challenges. I bought a copy for all of my deacons to read! He really explores the concept well that we are looking for fulfillment and happiness in other places than in God himself. You really want to give this one a read | | | | a real blessing Feb 1, 2009 |
| This book is wonderful. It's a must for any Christian going through the agonizing stage of middle-age. The author combines a rare sensitivity with Biblical insights to examine this very tough time in a person's life, and uses humour to get you through it. He sounds the trumpet of faith throughout the book, and breathes hope to one's despairing look at youth, what is lost, but also, helps us to look ahead, look forward with anticipation, not dread, despite the mistakes we may have made in the process of growing up. | | | | A must for anyone over 40! Jul 31, 2008 |
| I purchased the book at a conference several years ago. I thought it was about "mid-life" crisis and maybe I could use it to help someone else. Paul Tripp touches every aspect of aging, mental, physical, and emotional. I have bought the book for every friend I have over 40. I recommend it highly. It was delightful, insightful, and unbelievably encouraging to me. | | | Write your own review about Lost in the Middle: MidLife and the Grace of God
