From Publishers Weekly
As with his previous work Become a Better You, telegenic televangelist pastor Osteen is beaming on his book cover and wearing a nice suit. The cover alone telegraphs a repeat. Osteens message, in chapter after chapter in his clearly oral style, is presumably adapted from his weekly sermons: have faith in God because its your time: [God] will give you favor to accomplish your dreams. He will supernaturally heal your body. You will overcome every obstacle, defeat every enemy, and live that life of victory He has in store! Osteen has haters to the left, saying this is therapeutic pap, and haters to the right, saying this is theologically wrong. Somewhere in the vast between are thousands who attend his Houston church, millions worldwide who watch his services, and a million who bought his last book. Is it theologically wrong for a clergy member to remind people that God cares for them? Is it feel-good unrealistic to offer encouragement? A lot of people will buy this newest book from a preacher who knows his medium and who stands in a long line of positive American thinkers. (Nov.) Copyright 2009 Reed Business Information.
