Reviews - What do customers think about Mark Of The Lion Gift Boxed 3 Book Set?
 | I usually read non-fiction but... Mar 21, 2007 |
these are wonderful books that have really helped to flesh out many things for me. I appreciate so much the gift God has given Fracine Rivers and her own heartfelt and powerful testimony in the pages of these books. Now that I have said how great I think these books are I want to do a little "apologetics" here. Few of these reviews talk about unrealstic characters who dont have enough or believable struggles. They say there are unrealistic plot turns and that there are historical inaccuracies. Well, I disagree on all fronts. You can glean so much from these books and I devoured them. I suppose if you think that what we call the "apostolic gifts" died with the apostles and were only for the apostles then these books would be historically inaccurate for you (like one reviewer said)...but I dont believe that, so these books are a great testimony to the power of God that is still the same today. I think that if you dont have this understanding of the Spirit (that it doesnt work for us now the way it did for the apostles)that will take away a lot of the "unbelievableness" of characters, especially Hadassah. You can tell that Francine did extensive research before writing these books...she would have had to because before her Christian days I believe she was a western romance novelist or something along these lines. What I learned historically and culturally in these books is so much of the draw for me! The characters are beleivable and Francine shows so much insight into to the human condition for so many "kinds" of people that I am amazed. One reviewer said that Hadassah is unrealistic because she only struggles with fear and when that is taken from her she has no flaws. I see much more stuggle and weakness than this reviewer apparently did and find it sad that this reviewer doesnt appear to believe a Christian can live the kind of life that the character Hadassah does in the books. God can work all things...If you dont believe me go read some NON fiction about some of the first century Christian martyrs. The bottom line is that you can get past any minor historical discrepencies (if there are any-but none that I know of). You can get past the fact that Francine uses a few phrases too many times in her writing. These books are powerful and just flat out good reads. These books left me with a hunger for God anew and I cant wait to go read Acts, Ephesians, the Corintians, etc. again! Thanks | | | | Excellent books Mar 19, 2007 |
A voice in the wind is probably the best christian historical fiction I have ever read. The book is accurate historically and biblically and well written ( a rare combination). I highly recommend it.
| | | | Not to be redundant, but.... Mar 16, 2007 |
YOU CAN'T PUT THIS BOOK DOWN, I find myself sneaking it under my desk at my internship to read a few pages, taking it to class with me, and its next to my Bible on my nightstand. I crave it like no other book I've ever read. And the sad part is, I've already read "Voice in the Wind" three times before this!!
It's that good... mazing historical depth, a heart-aching romance, and vivid scenery...but more than that, these books imprint the message and character and attributes of God in your mind, heart, body, every aspect.
If you've never read these series, I encourage you to dig in that you may be impacted as well! | | | | you can't put them down Mar 7, 2007 |
| These books are amazing. Once you start reading them you will not be able to put them down. It really made me look at my own walk with christ and want to be closer to him. Read them you will not regret it. | | | | Weeping in Wendy's Mar 5, 2007 |
You can't miss this book! I absolutely couldn't put them down! I am a school bus driver and was reading "Echo" while waiting on students to finish an athletic event. I am sitting in Wendy's with tears streaming down my cheeks. I tell you, this has NEVER happened to me over a book before! It is now weeks later and every day the impressions I got from this book form my attitudes and motivations in my Christian walk. Thank you Francine Rivers for writing this book and others I have read of yours. I just found them (2007) and even though they have been out for years they will change lives for decades to come. | | | Write your own review about Mark Of The Lion Gift Boxed 3 Book Set
