Reviews - What do customers think about ESV Study Bible-Burgundy Bond?
 | Be Cautious of author's subjective views Jan 25, 2010 |
| I find it helpful to read different translations of the Bible. Unfortunately, I was disheartened when I noticed the views of complementarians in the commentary section of the ESV. I hope these men are honestly trying to seek God's truth-- albeit through their own subjective theologies. There are Christians who do not hold their views and interpret the same passages differently. Women have been and always will be leaders in the Church, even if certain men deny them titles! As with any commentary, be careful they are not God's Word which can only be found in the person of Jesus Christ. | | | | Kindle version is disappointing Jan 23, 2010 |
| The ESV Study Bible is an excellent resource, and deserves 5 stars by itself. However, the Kindle version is disappointing. You cannot search for a particular verse. You can search for any word in the Bible, but you cannot search by direct reference. For example, a search for Genesis 1:1 yields "No matches found." It is wonderful to be able to take notes and highlight verses in Kindle, but searching for a verse is a basic function that is lacking. | | | | WARNING: Adding and Taking Away in ESV Study Bible!!! Jan 19, 2010 |
Yes, I am having a Problem with this Book. AMAZING NOTES, REFERENCES etc... but what they are doing is taking words out and adding new one.
I have the Hebrew and Greek Manuscripts right here to prove this.
[...]
Now in Isaiah 14 where it is suppose to say "O LUCIFER, Son of the Morning Star" it says in the ESV, "O Day Star, Son of the Dawn".. Now either their ignorant of the manuscripts or they purposely did this. The NIV Did the same thing except they called it the, "Morning Star"..
Another Example is Matthew 24:7..."There will be Famine's, and Earthquake's in various places."(ESV)
Greek Manuscript: " and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places."
I know alot of you think this is just picking, but DO YOU REMEMBER what Revelations last chapter said? "DO NOT ADD OR TAKE AWAY ANY WORD!" - This was a clear warning!
Q: Why did they do this? What was the reason? 95 Evangelical Scholars??? Do they think we are dumb?
I Love the Bible they made but DO NOT! I re-peat, DO NOT! Add or Take away.. They clearly added "Day Star" and Took away "Pestilences"?? WHY! | | | | Great on Kindle Jan 14, 2010 |
| I really like the way this study bible functions on my new Kindle. Purchased it to use in a bible study class at my church. Going to and from the notes is very easy. Overall it is very easy to navigate. As far as content goes I think it is a pretty standard study Bible. With this class, this is the first time I have actually read the Bible. | | | | ESV Study Bible on Kindle Dec 31, 2009 |
| This review is for the Kindle version of the ESV Study Bible and not about the quality of the ESV Study Bible itself. I found the Kindle version of this Bible to be clumsy and difficult to use. I am accustomed to being able to easily go to a specific chapter and verse with Bible study software, but so far I have not found any way to do this with the Kindle version of this Bible. The tool is slow to respond to the user and seems to get confused easily. So far I haven't found any specific instructions on how to use this study Bible on the Kindle. I have been able to use the "go to location" if I use words (e.g. Herod's temple), and then scroll through the various matches it finds, but can not seem to "search" or "go to location" using normal Bible references (e.g. Joh 15:7 or John 15:7). If you want to use the Kindle version to read sequentially then this might be useful to you. If you want to be able to quickly and easily jump to specific locations then this might not be the best choice. | | | Write your own review about ESV Study Bible-Burgundy Bond
