Reviews - What do customers think about Pit Stop in a Southern Kitchen: Two Moms of Racing Legends Serve Up Stories and Recipes?
 | Nice Simple Cookbook Apr 29, 2010 |
If you are a race fan and a Dale Earnhardt and/or Jeff Gordon fan (yes you can be both, lol) and you like simple, easy to prepare "home cooking" then you will probably like this cookbook.
It includes many antedotes from the mothers of both Dale and Jeff. it is interesting to see their different backgrounds in their stories and recipes. Not all the stories are about their famous son's, they include tales of other racing families they have met and their own families that are outside of racing as well. And some really nice blurbs about what it means to be the mother of a driver and the challenges and fun that go along with that.
I have prepared several recipes from the book and I have enjoyed them all. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Jeff's mother's recipe for lasagna. It is non-traditional but quite good. And I am native to the south so Martha's contributions really brought me back to my youth. And I was able to find recipes similiar to those prepared my by grandmother. So it was a win all around for me.
Overall, it doesn't contain any earth shattering, life changing recipes, but if you are a race fan (of even if you aren't) looking for simple, classic, family orientated dishes then you will enjoy this book. | | | | Love this book! Mar 3, 2010 |
| This book is great! Not only does it give you awesome recipes, the stories of Jr. and Jeff are wonderful. My opinion? Buy this book! | | | | Delicious! Jan 7, 2010 |
| I bought this book for a friend of mine who loves NASCAR and cooking and couldn't think of a better gift for her. When I received it, I found myself looking through it. I loved some of the recipes and wanted to try them myself. I almost kept it!! Don't worry, my friend received her gift, but I copied a few meals to try. | | | | Perfect Gift for NASCAR fans. | I selected this book for my boyfriend's birthday because he is a NASCAR fan and a great cook. The recipes are very simple and familiar. The written comments are quaint and filled with racing tidbits. Lots of family photos are included alongside the recipes. We've also tried many of the recipes and all were successful. | | | | Good Cooks Like Good Cookbooks Sep 6, 2009 |
