Publishers Description
Barbara Covington has one more chance to save her daughter from a devastating addiction, by staging an intervention. But when eighteen-year-old Emily disappears on the way to drug treatment---and her interventionist is found dead at the airport---Barbara enters her darkest nightmare of all. Barbara and her son set out to find Emily before Detective Kent Harlan arrests her for a crime he is sure she committed. Fearing for Emily's life, Barbara maintains her daughter's innocence. But does she really know her anymore? Meanwhile, Kent has questions of his own. His gut tells him that this is a case of an addict killing for drugs, but as he gets to know Barbara, he begins to hope he's wrong about Emily. The panic level rises as the mysteries intensify: Did Emily's obsession with drugs lead her to commit murder---or is she another victim of a cold-blooded killer?

From Publishers Weekly
Prolific suspense author Blackstock (Double Minds) begins with every parent's nightmare: a drug-addicted teenage daughter is dragged to a rehab facility. When the interventionist is found dead and the teen is missing, mother Barbara Covington tries to find her daughter before police can arrest the girl for murder. Short chapters and terse dialogue propel the fast-paced action. It's competent genre work, though the characterizations could go deeper. The villain is somewhat improbable, and the 14-year-old brother of the missing teen is exceptionally clever and poised. But the mother-daughter relationship strikes true emotional notes; the redemptive arc of evangelical Christian fiction is natural and resonant in a story of addiction. Blackstock's many fans will be pleased, and this story will also speak to families dealing with addicted children. (Oct.) Copyright 2009 Reed Business Information.

Reviews - What do customers think about Intervention?

Great book, not as good as her series books but really good.  Feb 2, 2010
Personally, I like her books that are written in series but this book really touched my heart. I really enjoyed reading it and it was really suspenseful. Good, easy read.

Well written, realistic, great characters  Jan 8, 2010
I think the author did an awesome job sharing through excellently written fiction the very real heartache of addiction and its effects. She writes from both the parent's and the teenager's point of view with equal poignancy. I found the Christian faith- and doubts- of the characters well integrated into the story and totally believable.

I'm not easy to please when it comes to fiction- but this book had me engaged. I would recommend it.

Another wonderful book by Terri Blackstock  Dec 29, 2009
Just when you think that Terri Blackstock couldn't possibly write anything better than her previous work, she out does herself. This is another wonderfully written book. I love how she always uses real life problems in her books. It makes you seem just like you're there living and breathing what you're reading. I picked it up one day and couldn't put it down til I had finished it that night!

Great book  Dec 28, 2009
This was the firsst book i read by Terri Blackstock and I loved it. Good from page one to the end. Story is emotional and mystery keeps you reading. This book willgrab your attention right away and keep you eager to finish. I read it all in one sitting. I can't wait to read more by this author.

Disappointed with "Intervention"  Dec 26, 2009
First of all, I enjoy Christian fiction when well-written and engaging. I am over halfway through this book and I keep hoping it will get better. The main characters, Barbara Covington and her son Lance are on a mission to find their daughter and sister Emily, who disappears while enroute to a detox/rehab center. The interventionist is murdered and Emily is the prime suspect.

The writing seems repetitive and overly simplistic and the characters do not engage me at all. It is a book I pick up and hope that I will begin to enjoy; however life is too short to read bad books and I feel I will abandon this one.

Terri Blackstock is a favorite of mine with her series "Restoration" and I thought this would also be great. Not so. I recommend the "Restoration" series by Blackstock highly. The characters were very engaging and real. I felt a real sense of caring and wanting to know what happened next and eagerly picked up the book to find out. Not the same here.

I do not see where there is much mention in the book of faith or God or Christianity as some readers have said, and I am over halfway through. Maybe that comes later on.
This one by Blackstock is a "miss" for me. I also have "Double Minds" by this author and I hope it is better. Not recommended.
