Item description for The Little Sparrows (Orphan Trains Trilogy) by Al Lacy & Joanna Lacy...
Overview Establishing the Children's Aid Society, Charles Loring Brace rescues children from the streets of nineteenth-century New York City and takes them by train throughout the country in search of loving homes and families. Original.
Publishers Description Kearney, Cheyenne, Rawlins. Reno, Sacramento, San Francisco. At each train station, a few lucky orphans from the crowded streets of New York City receive the fulfillment of their dreams: a home and family. This "orphan train" is the vision of Charles Loring Brace, founder of the Children's Aid Society, who cannot bear to see innocent children abandoned in the overpopulated cities of the mid-nineteenth-century. Yet it is not just the orphans whose lives need mending -- follow the train along and watch God's hand restore love and laughter to the right family at the right time!

Reviews - What do customers think about The Little Sparrows (Orphan Trains Trilogy)?
 | Enchanting Moments May 24, 2008 |
| The Orphan Train Trilogy series is some of the most fabulous, enjoyable reading I have come across in years. I have even followed some of the characters on into the Frontier Doctor and The Stranger series. The Lacys are wonderful authors, I will be their fan for the rest of my days. | | | | Disappointing Jan 30, 2008 |
| As one who enjoys following fictional Christian characters in the midst of actual historical events, I was looking forward to the Orphan Trains Trilogy. However, the dialogue was so stilted and unbelievable, it was difficult to become involved in the story. The conversations between husbands and wives, between children and parents, etc. were dripping with sentiment and religious phrases such that they became trite. Who in today's world, let alone yesterday's world, would continually communicate in such a manner? Since Book 1 has been such a drudgery to plow through, I have abandoned the idea of reading the sequels even though I already purchased them. The tragedy is that the little known subject matter of the orphan trains, handled differently, could have been exciting, convicting and such a joy to read. | | | | Orphan Trains Triology, Book 1 Aug 5, 2007 |
The book arrived in great condition [NEW] and in respectable amount of time. I would not hesitate to order from this source again.
Thank you! | | | | preaching overcame interesting subject Feb 26, 2006 |
| This book was so heavy handed with preaching that the characters, story and scenes were completely overwhelmed. It made what could have been an interesting story dull. | | | | Spiritual Read Feb 2, 2004 |
| I really enjoyed this book, it was very uplifting and kept me coming back. I liked that there were several children involved in the story line and that you get to follow them to the end. I really look forward to reading the next book in the series and to more spiritual uplifting. | | | Write your own review about The Little Sparrows (Orphan Trains Trilogy)
